At SEKEM, one of the world’s most inspiring sustainable development communities that excels in activities ranging from regenerative agriculture and international business to education and human development. The SEKEM Guesthouse is located at the main SEKEM Farm close to Belbeis, north-east of Cairo and is a wonderful place for relaxation in the middle of production, education, health and agricultural work sites. Registering for the retreat also includes staying at the lovely SEKEM Guesthouse. The Guesthouse has simple and comfortable single or double rooms with balcony and bathroom en suite.
A peaceful surrounding terrace and garden offer a place of peace and relaxation.

The registration includes a full board accommodation at the SEKEM Guesthouse including the fees and costs for airport transportation and trips and food to and in Cairo included in the program. Learn more here.
Please note that alcoholic beverages are excluded.
You will self select which category you are when registering. There are no further discounts possible as this is a not-for-profit retreat.
A personal pickup from the airport will be arranged. An alternative pickup from Cairo is also possible in case this is needed. Both is included in the price. Coming with your own car to SEKEM is possible in case you live in Egypt.
A driver with a Sekem sign and your name will wait outside of the arrival terminal building looking for you. In case of any problems Mr Sayed from our local logistic team will assist you any time
When the detailed agenda is available it will be posted on our website. Also when registered you will receive the full agenda via mail in time before the retreat.
As we have limited rooms available, want to build an ongoing network together and allow everbody to have a full learning experience it is not possible to only join for one day.
Weather: The sun is statistically shining 362 days per year. Temperatures in November will be around 25 degree in the daytime and 15 degree in the night. A/Cs are available for heating and cooling but it is recommended to bring a sweater and light jacket for the evenings!
Egypt is also a predominantly Islamic country. In general, it’s advisable to keep your chest / cleavage, knees, and shoulders covered. Women should take a scarf for covering their hair when visiting a mosque.
In the pleasant dining room, guests meet during meal times, where they share the experience of the day. This often leads to exciting conversations.
The food is prepared mostly from organic and biodynamic products from the SEKEM Farm. Fresh bread, vegetables, dairy products, cereals, honey and the well known SEKEM herbal teas are served as well as a variety of delicious Egyptian food that will also make vegetarians happy.
Open buffets and grilled food will be part of the evening dinners. Food at restaurants outside of the SEKEM farm are according to high international standards.
Please share your dietary restrictions when registering and we will do our best to accommodate.
Visa: You need to get a 30 day tourist visa to enter Egypt. EU, UK and US passport holders can buy it in the airport at one of the bank counters before passport control and baggage claim. It costs 25 USD (only USD and EUR accepted). Sekem can provide a visa invitation letter if necessary. Please check the specific requirements for your country in advance to make necessary preparations.
Religion: 90% of Egyptians are Muslims who don't drink alcohol or eat pork. They are happy and very friendly, inviting people! Praying at prayer times is usual and you can see Muslims rolling out their prayer-rugs at any place when its time. Prayer times depend on the course of the sun.
